Vasileios Maroulas is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of Tennessee since 2010. He also holds a courtesy appointment with the Business Analytics and Statistics Department at the Haslam School of Business and he is a member of the Center of Intelligence and Machine Learning at the College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee.
His research interests are Dynamic Data Learning, Bayesian Filtering and Data Assimilation; Rare Events Estimation with applications in Biology, Defense, Engineering, and Finance. He is the recipient of the 2014 Early Career Research Award from the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Tennessee and the 2013 Leverhulme Trust Visiting Fellow at the University of Bath, UK.
He received his PhD in Statistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008. After his graduation, he continued his career as an industrial postdoc jointly at the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) at the University of Minnesota and Lockheed Martin. He has authored a plethora of research articles in a wide range of probability and statistics problems with applications in biology, defense and engineering.
